Ed Sheeran - Give Me Love

Task 2.1: The song is by Ed Sheeran and the song title is Give me love. The channel the song would be featured, is on MTV and VIVA as it is a quite recent song and it is what teenagers and young people are listening to, in this generation. The genre of the music video is Acoustic, folk and indie pop.

It has kind of a visible storyline and there is no lip singing.  The video is kind of abstract as the women keeps attacking people with a bow and arrow and how they fall in love with the first person that they see.

The video is kind of unconventional as there are women kissing women and men kissing men on some occasions. Also, we see a man kissing a woman on many occasions.

At the start of the video the first thing you can hear are sirens of ambulances and police cars as there has been a murder. A blonde women looks dead, she is lying on some kind of bed with blood by the side of her neck. She is wearing a grey t shirt, with something on her wrists and has wings stuck to her back. There is a very slow zoom into the character.

In the next shot we see a detective with a black shirt and black tie. There are blue and red lights flashing on him because of the police and ambulance cars. The body language of the detective is kind of dominant but he does not seem happy as he is walking to a building which means that something bad has happened there.

The shot is done at night and we see the detective walking towards the camera, with the camera being backward tracking, all this is done at a slow pace, just like the detective. The shot is a medium shot of the cop.

There are couple of kind of still shots of the women being alone which may seem like just because she is cupid she still wants someone to have.

In one part she pulls out a feather out of her back, she is a bit curious seeing the feather. There is blood on the feather as she just pulled it out of her skin. 

At her place, she does not seem to have many things, only the basic things to live, like a bed and kettle. She also, seems to have some weapons that may have been created by her to attack people as she is an angel and so if she does they would fall in love with someone. 

When the singer sings "I just want to hold you" there is extreme close up of two models of two people hugging which links in with the singer singing about this. This is back in her place so this shows us that she may want to have someone to hold and huge. 

The meaning of the video is that the singer wants someone to give him love and that is why the women, in the video with the wings, goes around stabbing and shooting people with an arrow, and when she does they fall in love with the first person that they see.  She supposed to be playing as cupid, she wants people fall in love with, and she gets obsessed with that. Until, she wants to fall in love with someone. So she takes one of her arrows and stabs herself trying to cut off the wings. At the beginning of the video we saw a cop walking into a building which we then find out that it is the cupid’s lair. And when he sees the women he must be at the influence of the arrows power and then he women wakes up. This makes us think that they may fall in love with each other. And that even someone who supposed to know a lot about love and who is in some way more special than others, they need someone to fall in love.

Task 2.2: This is the analysis of CD cover for this song Ed Sheeran called Give me love.
The music video and the CD cover have couple links as they both say similar things.

In this CD cover the background is pure white and it makes everything else stand out. In the song the women has wings and they are white so they are taking themes from the song and incorporating them into the CD cover. Right in the middle there are sweets that have text on them which are about love, this may link with Valentine's day as this day is all about love. Also, the sweets may link with the song's title as someone may be giving someone love through these sweets. The main sweet  is right in the middle and it stands out from the other sweet tablets as it is totally red but the others are white with black outlines. This sweet is the title of the song 'Give me love' and the sweets link in with the title as if on valentine's day you in many ways 'give' love to your partner. The title of the song is at the bottom right corner and the artist's name is on the top left corner of the CD cover. The colour scheme is white red and black, so they are using only three colors for this CD cover.
