Task 2.1: Music analysis of Beyonce - Irreplaceable video By Lukas Szalbot

Analysis of music videos 

Task 2.1: The song is by Beyonce and the song is called irreplaceable.

The genre is pop and R'N'B. 

This music video is mostly narrative, as you can clearly see that she and the other man are acting out a relationship scene, but the music video changes, towards the end to become a performance based video.

This plot of the song is about a man that cheated on his girlfriend and she is kicking him out of their big mansion.

In  one scene video she is singing with her band, all female band, Beyonce is dancing with her girlfriends. She may be bad mouthing her ex at this point as theme are no males and she has her friends wit her.  This music video has Beyonce lip singing throughout the whole music video.

The location and lighting were filmed in a particular way so as to make the audience focus on the characters. The whole scene is blended in the same colour background (scepia) for most of the music video.

In this song the video cuts to a different scene/image on the beat and most of the good music videos cut on the beat.

The location of the scene is Beyonce's house, with many different venues

The number of different venues she sings in are five and they are:

1. Her house
2. outside the house
3. on the stairs
4. A venue where her bang plays (performing)
5. wardrobe (a walking in wardrobe)
In the wardrobe, she is getting dressed with rollers in her hair which is implying that she is getting ready for to meet someone. Beyonce is made to look very provocative by the medium long shots and the medium shots of her. The medium shot of her, we can see her flicking her hair which makes her look very provocative. Also, in many scenes, Beyonce wears very little clothes, in others she tends to wear tight fitting clothes which makes her look very feminine and sexy.
The video is aimed at a female audience, encouraging women who have been hurt to move on.

The video ends with the camera behind the male character, it is a medium close up, we can see the singer's face. We do not know who the male character is leaving the audience guessing if she is back with her partner, or is she with someone else.
