Analysis of Formula 1 2010 game trailer

It starts with a Ferrari coming out of the pits and there is a sunset as the place seems a bit dark but the sun is facing us when it finishes panning.

There is a voice over “people ask me, what do I enjoy most about life?”

Then the man says “the intense rush of acceleration” and this bit has a subjective point of view from the cockpit in the force India car and the car is racing against some other drivers.  Then the shot cuts and it is facing the sunset again and the shot is on the pit straight facing a Renault car as it comes down and the voice over says “or commanding the ultimate driving machines.”  Then there is a shot of the driver in the cockpit in a McLaren car. 
It does state in small letters, somewhere in the lower middle of the screen, "Actual Gameplay" which means that some game trailer use actual footage from thew game but maybe some may not use footage form the game.  

There are some tracks that any Formula 1 fan can guess what the race track is like Monaco and Spa and both of theses tracks are shown in the advert. They used the footage of these tracks because they are legendary in and have been in Formula 1 for decades.  
The voice over keeps talking about some of the things and he says, "is it the fame?" and then he says  "or maybe   the fortune?" these two are very popular as most people want to be famous or have money. But this is not the full reason why he does what he does. When he says  is it the fame the shot switches from the Monaco track to the press talking to him with cameras and shoving a microphone in his face so that they can hear what he has to say about the race and other things. This is a stereotypical day for a famous person because you would normally see someone like that talking to the press. When he says about the fortune you have a shot of two women hugging. then the shot switches and it shows how a pit stop would be done in the game. in this part he says, " I can't deny I live the dream." which means that he does enjoy his life very much but still has not said the actual reason. after this you see some footage of the drivers driving in races like Spa in the rain, you see a Ferrari which is the mist popular car in formula one as it has been in more racer than practically any car in formula one. Then you see red bull car in Abu Dhabi race track and the voice over says, "But the real reason I do what i do." Then the voice over pauses and and the shot finishes. Then the voice over starts and says, "For just one moment ." another shot starts when the voice over says 'Moment" it cuts to a driver with a helmet with a racing suit that no one knows who's is it, he stands up and lifts his two arms towards a crowd with a lot of pictures being shot, as there are lot of lights being seen, and he finishes with saying. "I have no Equal."

Task 2.1 - Game: Grand Theft Auto 4 TRAILER ADVERT By Lukas Szalbot

Analysis of GAME TRAILER ADVERT

Grand theft auto 4 is the 6^th installment of the RockStar game. The advert starts off with introducing for which console this game advert is, as it is fox box 360.

Then it has a crane shot going towards the main game character with a brown coat and underneath it there is a kind of a shirt but not that nice. It seems like he just came out of a ship and there are people walking around and there is a building right behind him.  The shot keeps getting closer until the background switches to a park where couple of people is dong some fitness work. Then it switches to bowling ally, seaside and even a clothe shop and you see him having a nice suit which means that he just bought the suit from the nice clothe shop. In one of the backgrounds we see some people shooting at each other and in the next shot you see a car blowing up and this links in with the genre of the game as it is a action & adventure. Also, you see him walking on a bridge and this is a very significant part of the game because you generally cannot go everywhere on the map and the bridge signifies that each cities that you cannot go to are cut by the bridge.  There is a medical van with the doctor standing on the right of the shot while the car is on the left and you seer him trying to help the people who are heart.

The song over it does not have many words and it seems like it is kind of modern and each cut changes at the beat.  The song is by

In one shot you see a little church and couple limousines which means there may be a wedding going on, in the background with bells ringing. 
there is a plane in one shot so maybe you can fly planes like in San Andreas but actually you cannot fly planes which means that this shot is 

Task 2.1 - Documentary: A very British gangster-analysis by Lukas

Documentary Analysis part 2

This documentary is by Donal Macintyre and starts Dominic Noonan as a gangster in Manchester.


At the start there is a Master/Establishing shot of a urban landscape at night with the night lamps on. Stereotypical at night you would see crime and corruption, the scene is very dark.
The documentary is using film conventions stating 'Pare films in association with five presents...' which is not conventional for a documentary to use them.
There is ambient sound of a train and a voice over which is also sound bridge as the sound is coming from the next shot which has a middle aged male talking, then it cuts to three gangsters. You can clearly see that one pf them is more dominant than the other two as there is a juxtaposition of him being in the middle of them two and the two are looking out which maybe showing that they are his bodyguards/protection. Them two next to the protagonist are seen smoking.
the scene cuts to another scene of them walking down under a bridge and there is a low angle shot of them  showing that they are dominant gangsters than he audience and the rest of the people in Manchester.
The music is very stereotypical as they are playing hip hop/rap music as they normally play this kind of music when there is a gangster film.
This scene ends and goes to another with them walking towards the camera with a slow motion which was also used in a film  called 'reservoir dogs' by Quentin Tarantino.
Later in a different scene there is a voice over of Donal listing about what the criminal gangster is infamous for like killing people.

Documentary 1 - "Man made: Bugatti Veyron super car."

Date 2010, genre - technology (first five minutes)


- one of the first things you see is the car which shows you right from the start what the documentary is gone be about and as this is a quiet a popular car as it is practically the most powerful car in the world and this catches your eye as some audiences would want to know more about the car: how it was made and how it works.
The documentary had some music over the footage...
The voice over of the presenter talks about some of the most interesting facts about the cars right at the start of the documentary

Task 2.1 - Documentaries: different types of Documentaries By Lukas Szalbot

The opening needs to capture the audience's attention as quickly as possible. - The central question of the documentary has to be posed at the beginning in order to communicate to the audience what the program is about. 

The codes and conventions of documentaries 
Incidental music A relevant soundtrack/song should usually accompany the opening sequence during some visual montage. The music must not however override the voice over, balance the sound appropriately. 

Titles are important to show what is the title of the show and the person who is being shown at the time.

Actuality - Grabbing the moment as it happens (archive footage).

Fly on the wall - When you film real people as they do real things focusing on their lives. They know that the camera is there.

Voice over - narration  of what the program is about to deliver information.

Graphics - use graphics with written text, Maps, drawings, still photographs can be incorporated through different things.

Interviews - An expert view with someone who has some knowledge of your of your topic.

Vox pops - This is more of a random interview with ordinary people on the street with a hand held camera.

Talking head - When there is a presenter, directly to the camera. They present the facts.

Music - It is critical for the opening sequence but the sound of the song or music should not dominate the voice over. Balance sound appropriately.
