Task 2.2 Layla Cover Analysis

The cover features a centered painting of the eponymous female with a bunch of flowers over the left side of her face and has a sort of Van Gogh Aesthetic to it thanks to the bright colours and the blocky colouration. The rest is just an outline with golden text  saying "Derek and the Dominos The Layla Sessions 20th Anniversary Edition". The face flowers has a nice heart shape if you look at the outlining probably symbolic of the love they share in the song. The woman has very pale skin to the point where it is white which could represent purity and cleanliness. The warmth of the yellows gives us a sense of calming heat and makes it look golden like something valuable. Whats successful about this cover is the striking colourful artwork that takes the centre stage of the cover drawing your attention to it from a far distance or on a cluttered shelf. However the black outlining is a little generic and gives off a feeling of pretentiousness and might turn off some customers. The thing I can take away from this cover is to be unique in your designs but make sure they relate to your product.
